Why You Should Use Rose Oils for Your Best Health

According to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” Whatever you want to call a rose though, you should know that the oils that come from roses are incredible for your health. Beyond being a beautiful flower often associated with romance and having a heavenly fragrance, rose oils can do so much for you from the inside out.

Roses were first cultivate in Persia (now known as Iran) starting in the 10th century. When the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century improved on the growth of roses in Bulgaria, it became an even more highly-sought after prize once distilled into oil. It remained a luxury item until WWII when the industry was nationalized.

Now though, rose oil is easy to get and what’s more, it’s wonderful to put in your essential oil inhaler to take with you anywhere. Rose essential oil has many benefits and while it’s highly-revered in skincare, it also has the power to help you in other ways.

Perhaps it’s because the scent of roses smell so utterly divine, but it turns out research has confirmed that rose essential oil can relieve stress. Studies have shown that in split groups, those that were given rose essential oil felt more calm and relaxed compared to the placebo group. 

- Better sleep

Tossing and turning at night? Pull out your essential oil inhaler and use rose essential oil to help capture those elusive Z’s. Studies have found aromatherapy with rose oil to be beneficial for getting quality sleep compared to those that didn’t go with the aromatherapy.

- Reduce anxiety

If you find you’re often anxious, rose essential oil should be one you carry along with you daily. Again, maybe it has something to do with the luxurious fragrance of roses themselves, but whatever it is, it can help you keep calm and carry on wherever you are.
